At Aprikos Medical, we are proud to announce that we have entered into a license agreement with Inven2 to further develop an exciting new invention from Akershus University Hospital (Ahus), an innovative suction tip that removes blood from the surgical field faster and more efficiently.

Developed by surgeons Juha Tapio Silvola and Lam van Nguyen, together with industrial designer Mikael Omlid, the suction tip has already shown impressive results. Tests indicate that it can remove blood up to 32 percent faster than today’s standard solutions. For patients, this means safer surgeries with fewer complications. For surgeons, it means better visibility and more efficient procedures.

From Idea to Global Solution

With this agreement, we take full responsibility for developing the technology further. Our team will lead product development, clinical studies, and regulatory processes with the goal to launch this innovation globally.

We believe this suction tip represents more than just a new device. It combines patient safety, surgical precision, and healthcare cost savings. Aprikos Medical will take the invention from idea to a fully regulated and accessible product, supported by the necessary clinical documentation and a clear plan for international launch.

When we see a product that can shorten surgery time, provide surgeons with better visibility, and reduce the risk of complications, we know we are working with something that has global potential.

This project gives our distributors access to an exclusive, patented innovation and reflects our strategy to keep expanding the portfolio with new products that reinforce their strength in local markets.

Building Norwegian Innovation for the World

This project is just the beginning of our collaboration with Inven2. Inven2 specializes in commercializing health, life sciences, and natural sciences technologies, turning research into innovations that benefit patients and society. Together, we want to bring Norwegian medical innovations from hospital ideas to global solutions. Our ambition is to create a platform that will allow several groundbreaking projects to reach the market and with this suction tip as the first step.

We expect to launch the suction tip in Q1 2027, making it available to hospitals worldwide.
